After the huge success that the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus faced last year, Apple is now here with two brand new smartphones that have been unveiled earlier but are hitting the stores today : The all new iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus.
People all over the globe have been lining up outside Apple stores for as long as two days, bearing the scorching sun and rain showers in different parts of the world. Now we all know this is nothing new as Apple fans have been known to spend multiple days in lines outside stores in the past, be it for the iPhone 6 or its predecessor the iPhone 5s. But something that has happened for the first time is that a robot is waiting in line outside an Apple store in Sydney to get hold of the iPhone 6s or the iPhone 6s Plus.
The robot named Lucy, owned by a marketing executive Lucy Kelly is waiting in line for her. Kelly said through the iPad mounted on top of the robot: ” I obviously have my work and other things to attend to and can’t spend two days lining up so my boss at work suggested I take one of the robots down and use it to stand in my place”.
Here’s the robot lucy in this picture below:
If experts are to be believed, the sales figures for these two new offerings from Apple will easily surpass that of their predecessors. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus manages to sell over 10 million units in the opening weekend and the ‘S’ variants of these two smartphones are expected to bring in about 12 to 13 million units in terms of sales figures.
Talking about the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus, the devices are of the same size as their predecessor, 4.7″ and 5.5″ respectively. In terms of looks, the only new thing you’ll be getting are new color variants but there are significant changes under the hood. The new smartphones have better cameras, upgraded processor and the all new “3D Touch” or forced touch as it is being popularly called.
The new iPhones feature a 12 MP iSight camera which is now capable of capturing better photos and also 4K videos. Under the hood, you’ll find the upgrades A9 chipset paired with 2 GB of RAM which is a first in iPhones. The most interesting feature of the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus is the 3D Touch which is basically a pressure sensitive touch screen system that opens up different options depending on how hard you touch or press on the screen. The new smartphones also feature a tighter aluminium frame to save them the embarrassment that the iPhone 6 Plus faced last year due to the bendgate controversy.
The iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus will set you back by $199 and $299 respectively on a 2-year contract. So go stand in a long line if you wish to get your hands on these smartphones.
