Listening music on PC/phone or even through home is not yet so difficult task in these contemporaneous days. Although your home theatre doesn’t require any media player to play audio but you must have a media player to do so on computers or laptops. Alike playing, that is also not a hard task to find out a media player by googling. But you ought to have every kind of info about your media player before taking it for permanently.

Best audio and video players:
Windows Media Player (WMP):
This is first and final in-built media player of Windows Operating system which is being developed by Microsoft. You can find it from Windows 98 SE to Windows 8. Most of the audio and video files could be run via this media player.
Format: WAV, MP3, CD and DVD playback, AAC, 3GP. MP4, MOV, AVCHD, Blu-ray playback, .mts and .M2TS.
You can also synchronize your portable device’s audio and video files by just plugging in to your PC via USB cable. Although I didn’t find any visualization on latest versions but you can get attractive visualizations along with your audio files on old versions.
Apart from playing media files, you can also burn CD or DVD by making use of this media player.
WinAmp:
Every player is not so good for both audio and video playing and WinAmp is the perfect as audio player. You will get a high quality sound right from your speakers if you will play media through WinAmp. It is being developed by NullSoft. You can run this player almost every OS like Windows, MAC OS X, Android, Linux and so on.
Format: MP3, MIDI, MOD, MPEG-1, AAC, WAV, AMA.
You can find some beautiful skin with your music. On other end, you can also open recently ended audio and video which is another in-built feature of this player. This is also possible to manage your music files effectively through WinAmp.
GOM Player:
This is my favorite audio and video player for Windows. It has been developed by Gretech Corporation since 2003. You can download it almost all Windows OS. Current version of this player also supports Unicode text subtitles.
Format: 3GP, Flash video, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, MP4, AVI, WMV, MP3, AMR, Audio CD and DVD, Google Video.
Apart from playing media files, it can also stream online video from GOM TV, popular most streaming service of South Korea. It might requires corresponding codec files to play video smoothly. So, I would suggest you to download them according to your requirements.
VLC Media Player:
The most popular and widespread audio and video player for Windows, Android, Linux, MAC OS X and many other OS which has been developed by VideoLAN. It comes with a great user interface with some visualizations and it can be controlled by hotkeys.
Format: MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, VC-1, VP8, 3GP, AVI, FLV, MP4, WAV, VOB, CD/DVD-video and audio, AAC, AC3, ALAC, FLAC, MP3 and more others.
It can also stream online videos from any site but you need proper settings for that. On other end, you can set video as desktop wallpaper using VLC media player as well.
